Our Initial Meeting

This marks the opportunity to meet and greet, allowing us to better understand you. Bring along essential documentation to establish your identity:

  • An original Birth Certificate or an official extract of an entry in an official register (preferably if born in Australia), or an Australian or overseas Passport indicating the date and place of birth.
  • If providing a Birth Certificate, bring a driver’s license or a Passport for photo ID.
  • Provide evidence of any name changes (if applicable).
  • Share evidence of any divorce or death of a party’s spouse (if applicable).

We’ll thoroughly explain all legal documentation, including the Notice of Intended Marriage form (‘the NOIM’) and the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage (‘the Declaration’). The NOIM must be completed no earlier than 18 months and no later than one month before the marriage date. Once your booking is confirmed, expect an email within 15 minutes with a link to fill out your NOIM online, automatically populating all other legal forms ready for signing.

Typically, the Declaration is signed closer to your ceremony date (e.g., at a rehearsal approximately 1-2 weeks before your ceremony).

One of our significant responsibilities as your celebrant is to guide you on the availability of relationship education services. While not compulsory, it’s a crucial aspect, and several courses are available to help you nurture a strong and healthy relationship.

Following the signing of the NOIM, you’ll receive a brochure titled ‘Happily Ever…Before and After,’ providing essential information for couples planning to marry.

You can expect comprehensive information on ceremony readings, music selections, and vows. Both partners need to formalize personal vows, music, poems, and scripts, sending them to us for scripting. This should be completed no later than four weeks before your wedding, allowing ample time for planning, preparation, and scriptwriting.

3 – 4 Weeks Before the Ceremony

By this point, our collaboration has resulted in a well-outlined structure for your wedding ceremony. Communication, whether in person, via email, or Skype, remains crucial. We will send you a completed script for your perusal and confirmation.

2 Weeks Before the Ceremony

Send any changes via email, outlining them clearly. Final payment and balance are due.

1 Week Before the Ceremony

Attend a rehearsal/final meeting at the venue (if convenient) or another suitable location. Confirm ALL wedding details for a seamless celebration.

Wow, don’t even know where to begin so I’ll just say this. Having John as our Celebrant, DJ and MC and his beautiful wife Sandra as our photo booth hostess was by far the best decision we made for our wedding, it would not have been as great as it was without them both, our guests all agreed!

We cannot thank you enough for everything! You made everyone feel comfortable and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The whole thing was perfect.
